One of our major undertakings this year was changing the medical branding from Classic and Select to Formthotics System. Why did we do this? Mainly because there are so many products on the market that all claim to be the equivalent of Formthotics®, when in reality most of them are just another form of insoles (albeit with a slightly higher arch region) made by the same process, (heat-compression moulding or injection moulding) as the standard insoles that come in shoes. Any of these products can help to reduce a particular patient's symptoms but do they improve foot and leg function and are they really "foot orthoses" or "orthotics"?

Come on up for some great winter skiing

The bluebird weekend has been followed by some unsettled weather today with a top up of snowfall on the upper mountain (5-7cm).
The Saddle Basin is where it's all at with great skiing and riding for all levels both on and off piste top to bottom, so make your way across the Saddle Track and set yourself up to have some fun.
The Metservice forecast suggests we keep those winter woollies handy. They predict cooler temperatures with the freezing level dropping below the base building and more snow fall expected later this week.

Treble Cone in Wanaka hosted the first Mapei NZ junior Mixed Age Ski Race yesterday in superb racing conditions. Two scholarships to the value of up to $2500 were awarded to young talented ski racers, to assist their future endeavors in snow sports.
