Achilles Tendon
Pain at the back of your heel.
The Achilles tendon is located at the back of the heel where it runs from the calf muscle to the back of the heel bone. Pain or tightness at the Achilles tendon is usually caused by inflammation surrounding the tendon as a result of overuse. The tendon may be painful on gentle squeeze and can even feel lumpy or swollen. Achilles tendon problems can occur due to sudden increase in exercise such as running, poor technique, lack of stretching, poor foot function and inappropriate footwear to name a few.
Formthotics™ can relieve your Achilles pain by supporting your feet and reducing your pronation. This decreases the amount of tension on the tendon relieving discomfort. Your podiatrist or sports physician can confirm the diagnosis of your Achilles pain and provide treatment to ensure a return to full activity.
