The enhancement of human comfort, the prevention and treatment of injuries, and the
promotion of healthy active lifestyles…these are the goals of Foot Science International. We each have a commitment to consistently achieve excellence in all that we do.
Most lower extremity injuries are caused by unnatural modern surfaces
Most foot and leg problems, including Achilles tendon injuries, shin splints and knee and heel (e.g. plantar fasciitis) pain, ultimately stem from problems of pronation; the inward rotation of the foot causing ‘flat feet’. Formthotics support and cushion the foot to reduce stress and impact, altering the distribution of force through the foot, and changing the alignment of the foot, ankle and lower leg. This results in reduced pain and inflammation throughout the body. These lower extremity injuries are not caused by deformities of the foot and leg, but by the unnatural walking surfaces of our modern environment: pavement and hard, flat shoes.
“The human foot was originally designed to travel on soft, natural surfaces like earth and sand. Unfortunately, we now spend every day walking and standing on unnatural hard, flat surfaces like pavement and floors.”
Dr Keith Rome, Professor of Podiatry, Auckland University of Technology.
